About Us

John Reed Racing is a small, highly specialized operation. But even the smallest operation is never truly just one person. First, we are blessed and thankful to work with some of the best companies in the industry, whose reps go out of their way to help us and to all of them we say thank you for your support.

Our home base is currently Portland Speed Industries facility in Hillsboro, OR and we are grateful to work hand in hand with them on countless projects. Our focus on wiring and tuning pairs nicely with their excellent service and fabrication operation and it is a working relationship/friendship that has spanned years.

John Reed Racing was founded by legendary tuner John Reed.  John has worked in the automotive and high performance/racing industry for over 20 years. With an AAS degree in automotive technology including factory Toyota T-TEN training, he began his career with Toyota and he was soon a lead diagnostics/electronics technician. He also won the regional skills contest in 2000 on his first try, as well as being on the forefront of the hybrid platform when the Prius was released (including training emergency responders across the state in proper handling of hybrid systems). The Toyota connection brought him into contact with the MR2 and Supra platforms, and his passion for both racing and improving the performance of anything with an engine hit full stride.

From 2004-2008 John worked for a couple local shops, where he became one of the most sought after engine management tuners in the world. A slow transition took place, and he moved from doing everything from engine builds, transmission work, installations to becoming a specialist in engine management, data acquisition and wiring solutions.

Late 2008 brought the decision to start his own venture, and John Reed Racing was born. He continues to offer the highest quality wiring and tuning services, including handling all of the engine management systems and wire harness solutions for the record setting Underground Racing twin turbo exotics. He also provides track support for many racing teams/series throughout the year.

John is a MoTeC, AEM, HKS factory trained tuner, and stays up to date with training from EFI University and other manufacturer supplied training/materials.

John’s hobbies include racing anything with wheels and an engine, riding dirt bikes, mountain biking, snow sports, camping and traveling.
