JRR plug and play ignition coil upgrade for the Yamaha YXZ1000R, using the powerful CanAm Maverick R ignition coils. These (and the CanAm X3 version before them) are well proven on high boost/ethanol/methanol applications. Installation is as easy as changing the spark plugs, and the final result looks OE.
This kit is supplied with a dwell curve to achieve a maximum of 8 amps, which is suitable for the Bosch/AEM 3 channel igniters used in the JRR M1 PNP kits. This kit has only been validated on JRR M1 PNP kits, however it should work fine on any aftermarket ECU setup that is also running the Bosch/AEM 3 channel igniter. ECUs with internal igniters - compatibility will need to be verified with the ECU manufacturer.
An alternate dwell curve, which will acheive the maximum of 12.5 amps, is also available for extreme use setups (60+ psi boost/methanol/etc). This setting requires a robust igniter, such as the MoTeC IGN4. The IGN4 can be supplied as a PNP upgrade to the YXZ1000R M130 kit - inquire for more information.
JRR YXZ1000R MoTeC M130 PNP kits have been supplied with either Bosch or AEM igniters over the years, depending on component availability. This coil kit has been tested with both igniters, and while it does work with the AEM igniters, there was found to be excess noise in the coil primary circuit when using the AEM igniter. Therefore it is recommended to use the Bosch igniter for best results/performance.
Compatibility with the stock ECU is unknown. Test at your own risk.
